Ahhh…. Tssss…. Push it!
by Mikey Likey on Oct.30, 2009, under mp3
Good evening and happy weekend! We have been beyond busy with gigs and practicing our new show this week, but we still managed to find time to make this spicy little nugget for you! It features a verse from the legendary Salt N Pepa’s ‘Push It’. But the thing is, its just this one verse, chopped up a bunch and repeated a few times. So we didn’t know whether to call this a remix or just a song made from ‘Push It’ samples. In the end we settled on calling it ‘Workin Up A Sweat’ and just figured that with the artwork and everything, people will understand that it’s a massive tip ‘o’ the hat to Salt N Pepa. Either way, play it loud while you’re rocking your gold chain and acid-wash. I’m sure there will be some train-spotters out there saying “oh its clearly a remix” or whatever so if that’s the case please feel free to school me. Everyone else, enjoy!

by Mikey Likey on Oct.27, 2009, under gigs
Hey friends, colleagues, and associates…. here’s the lowdown on where to catch us this week if you feel like a boogie.
Wednesday night we are starting our new fortnightly residency at ‘Snap!’ the new club night at X&Y Bar brought to you by those rascals from Shifty Productions. We just played a party for them on the weekend and believe me when i tell you, they know how to throw a party, and throw it well.
Then Thursday night we will be getting our indie/party on at ‘Hazing’. Thats at the Clubhouse (old corner bar). We do this one every week and its a great chance to play some indie tunes and catch a band and some cheap beers.
Friday we will be at Uber for ‘Gig Antics’. We will be supporting Skinny Jean for their album launch, should be heaps of fun if you’re in the area. We havent been to Uber in ages so it will be awesome to catch some familiar faces.
Saturday is a halloween party for our friend Cam. Sorry but its a private party so if you dont know already, we cant tell you ![]()
Then sunday we are playing at a charity event called ‘Sunday Sounds For Samoa’. its at the Mermaid Bowls Club during the day. Our good friends the Winnie Coopers will also be performing at this one so we are frothing to jump around in the front row for their set!
Hopefully see you over the weekend!!

Benny Blanco
by Mikey Likey on Oct.21, 2009, under mp3, slow burner
Benny Blanco is a multi-faceted producer. I love it when someone can make bangers just as well as slow-burners. It shows a genuine love of music and a high level of skill. I first heard of him when he worked with Spank Rock on the ‘Bangers & Cash’ EP. It was a crazy rad release full of booty bass and lots of samples taken from ‘2 Live Crew’. Anyways here’s an example of his chilled out side. Its a remix he made of ‘Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone’ …the original has been sung by well over 100 different artists over time. This remix is of Michael Jackson’s version.

Charity gig for the Samoan tsunami victims
by boozy b on Oct.20, 2009, under gigs
When the tsunami hit Samoa we were in Bali, you can’t help but think if it all happened a little differently it could of been us caught in the tragedy. You never know what can happen, especially with our love to visit these locations were this horrible thing can happen.
We are more than happy to donate our time to this event on the 1st of November. We’ll be rocking a party for a good cause with fellow party rockers and good souls The Winnie Coopers, Baby Gee and heaps more. It’s only 25 bucks for a Sunday session with a good cause and a great line up.
Feel good about yourself when your hung over for once. See you there!!

Reggae Re-Rub
by Mikey Likey on Oct.12, 2009, under mp3
Morning kiddies! Im starting to get used to making these blog posts from Bali. Its pretty relaxed over here, we’ve just been waking up whenever, having breakfast, going for a surf, shooting hoops from the pool, eating more amazing food…. just kickin it! So in the spirit of all things relaxed, here’s a little reggae tune for you. Its the Mark Ronson remix of ‘Animal’ by Miike Snow. The original tune was awesome, and i recommend you go to the itunes store and cop it. But this is a really great version – Mark Ronson has got that magic touch when it comes to taking a song to a new place. Turn it up and go stretch out on the beach under a coconut tree…

Black Dog Bar in Bali.
by boozy b on Oct.11, 2009, under adventures, gigs, youtube
What a night!!!!! It was jam packed night of chaos from the start, just like Bali should be. The idea to do a gig was a last minute thing, it was hooked up threw some mutual friends, a clothing label called Tainted, they run a charity night with a bar called Black Dog. The bar is nothing fancy but has more soul than Aretha Franklin. Im sure that is why it was packed to the brim full of party goers, it’s a refreshing change from the seedy filth pits of Kuta that you seem to find yourself in at 4 in the morning pumping a fist to Just Dance by Lady Gaga, while the other grips onto your jam jar of jungle juice. The chaos started when i snapped the 3500 rp ( 50 cents ) RCA cable that i had just bought next door, i snapped it as we were suppose to start playing. So i ran next door to buy another and the shop had shut, it’s 11pm by now. (continue reading…)
Lounge Act (Z-Trip remix)
by Mikey Likey on Oct.11, 2009, under mp3
Here’s a remix that’s been kicking asses and taking names lately at our shows. It’s by one of my favourite ever djs: Z-Trip. Its tough to remix such a well-known song because people are usually so attatched to it. So the more you change it, the more likely that it will piss people off, but on the other side of the coin you want to change it enough to make it your own. He has done an awesome job with this one, staying very true to the original and just replacing the drum track with some more dj-friendly programmed beats. its a really tasteful version and i reckon that even the most die-hard Nirvana fans would be feelin this.
