Got a little gold nugget of hip hop here to start your week… This is the new clip from our boy Whisper. Its called ‘Stand Up’ and its one of those soulful hip hop joints that just nails it. Whisper and i used to work together in a skate shop in Melbourne, during which time he taught me the basics of beatmaking. We even did a few tracks together back when i used to, ahem… ‘rap’ (and i use the term VERY loosely). He is a red-hot MC, a supremely talented producer, a great singer, and absolutely shithouse at vacuuming shop floors. So its obvious that music is the right path for this guy. If you like your hip hop soulful, and your raps meaningful, i suggest you peep more of Whisper’s tracks over at his myspace. EVERYBODY STAND UP!!!

This definately seems to be one of those tunes that polarizes opinions. Most people either love it or hate it. Boozy B flat-out cannot stand it. I am not really feelin auto-tune bits but at the moment its sitting in my ‘guilty pleasures’ category. You know those songs that you’ll listen to in your room but not admit to it? Yeah, me neither… Anyhoo, whether you love it or hate it, you gotta admit that the video is incredible! Check it out, Major Lazer back with another videogasm

This is a video that our friend Sampology recently made to accompany the hilarious ‘Where’s My Monkey’ by Parker. The song is a slant on the dubstep anthem ‘Where’s My Money’ and i give full points to both Parker and Sampology for this. The idea is amazing and the video is beyond awesome! If you get a chance to see Sampology doing his visual DJ sets in the near future, id say theres a good chance this will be in there somewhere. Now, WHERE’S MY MONKEY!?

Last weekend we did a show for My Vision Tv, and the kind gent that that booked us has made this short clip from the day. I never realized how smug i look when im playing!! Sheesh! Pull your head in Mikey!!

Ahhhh school… nothing better than when it ends. At least for the semester. Come and kick it with us and some of Brisneyland’s finest party-starters tomorrow night at Uber. Its sure to be a ball-tearer of a night! And its the first time in forever that we have done a wednesday there so it should be double the GOOD TOIMES!! School’s out, NO RULEZ! (said ironically) but seriously, should be a kickass party!!

Sheesh! You know we are in the middle of silly season when all i can blog about is gigs and gigs! But here we go again – Saturday marks the first ever ‘That Festival’ in Hastings/Pottsville. The lineup is nuts, allow me to indulge you: Midnight Juggernauts, Beautiful Girls, Bluejuice, Pez, The Almighty Koolism!, Philly J’s, Kid Kenobi, the always loose-as-fuck Yacht Club Djs, our boy Sampology (YEEEW!!), plus ourselves and a shitload more… Damm i thought after last weekend that i would get a chance to relax this weekend and not get crazy/go overboard/embarrass myself but looks like thats gone out the window. See you there for party-time, great success!!

This Friday night we will be supporting The Hump Day Project at Ruby Tramp. When it comes to the club/bmore sound these guys have got a lock. Ive been giving plenty of love to their justice remix lately and it always gets a great response. Anyhoo, if you’re anywhere near surfers paradise (and youre not a schoolie haha{except you Kye, you’re welcome man}) you better be there… this will put a serious dance in your pants! (If you liked our ‘live from neverland’ mix, im looking at you!)

We don’t really do private parties anymore, but sometimes we break our rules and go and rock a party for a mate. In this case it was a mate Cam. His boys and him have been coming to our shows for a while now and even on a quite night they’ll be jumping around to the Cool Kids or cheering when a new song mixes in to see if they can trick other people to cheer along with them. So we repaid them by breaking our rules and rocking this halloween birthday party. It was worth doing just to see a guy dressed up as the pope rap along to Wu Tang Clan.

If you find yourself in the Coolangatta region this Saturday night, (and lets face it, the odds are good) come help us make some noise at Neverland. We will be playing an early set from 8pm till 10pm and then the always-rad Thomas J will be taking over. We will be running four decks and the MPC. So that means that if the crowd is right for it, we will probably whip out a few of the routines we have been preparing for festivals etc. Come get loud with us!

Hey friends, happy weekend. Thought we should share this with you. You may remember last week we posted our ‘Workin Up A Sweat’ track. It was made from ‘Push It’ samples and we couldnt figure out if it fell into the ‘remix’ category or the ‘totally new track that contains chopped up Salt N Pepa vocals’ category (we ended up going with the latter). Anyways, its been bugging us this week that it could have been a really cool dubstep joint. So here it is: A remix of our own remix! How self indulgent is that!?! We are now one step away from being a noise-band that writes songs in time-signatures that only we can understand. But besides the weirdness of giving our own track a re-rub, we like this version way better than the first one. So put it on blast and ragdoll around the room for a bit to get you in the mood for the weekend!

Ps its called the ‘Turbulence Version’ as a nod to my panic-stricken flight last week when we experienced the very mildest of turbulence.

Thought i should run this by you – remember how exciting it was when we stumbled onto some unicorn poo a few months back? (if not, click here) Well we were lucky enough to spot some Unicorn vomit this year at Parklife! I could tell it was fresh because it was covered in saliva and some kids were throwing it around. Kids these days hey? Always off on some whacky adventure!!
