This Thursday is Sampology’s Super Visual Smackdown (as you’ve no doubt seen on here already) and we have been preparing our 4 turntable & MPC show. its going to be an hour long, and will be halfway between a party set and a trick set. This is so etherial and amazing that it makes me want to take my pants off and jump down the rabbit-hole.

Its set to be a killer day with a great lineup. We will be there doing a set with Brisbane beatbox-master and all-round funny guy: Dr Rhythm. There’s not much i love more than watching good music at a festival in summer, so im pretty much jizzing my pants in anticipation for this one. See you there!!

Ok so this has probably been out forever, but hey i only just stumbled onto it so settle down all you people who only listen to music that was made this morning. Its Hervé’s remix of ‘Under The Sun’ by Kidda. Hervé is a master of all things bassline, and also goes by these aliases: The Count, Voodoo Chilli, Action Man, Dead Soul Brothers, Speaker Junk and Young Lovers. Thats a lot of names, i dont care where you’re from! This tune has got such a feelgood-hit-of-the-summer vibe to it, kinda somewhere between a 90s rave tune (happy piano breakdowns) and a beach party. Anyways it’s dancefloor gold and i will be dropping it like it’s warm this weekend.

This made me laugh so hard that i had tears coming out of my eyes…. Oh mercy!

The Scratchophone is a portable Scratch instrument, featuring a turntable, a special tonearm, scratch mixer, and a pair of speakers. It can even be used with a portable power supply. Its Crazy gadget for those scratchers in bands or groups Etc.

I dont know to much about the Scratchophone, but i cant wait to see someone using it in a show.

The Chappelle Show Is the new solo project from our friend Guy, who is one half of the unstoppable ‘Yacht Club Djs’. Judging by this mixtape, it would be worth canceling that roast dinner at your mum’s place and getting along to one of his shows. Ive been listening to it all weekend and the verdict is in: It bumps! Put it on and watch your house turn into a tropical holiday party bonanza-rama-fest!

I just got this from the legends at Dust Tones. Its a clip of Hermitude performing their track Cartridge Kings at the Elefant Traks 10th Anniversary party. These guys are so fucking musical that it makes me feel like when we do our shows, we are are the equivelant of a couple guys on stage clumsily banging sticks on old tyres. Anyways, Hermitude = amazingness. If you don’t have their ‘Threads’ album, you must be punishing yourself. Don’t punish yourself, its daddy’s job! …What, too far?

Clear your schedule out kids, this is gonna get gnarly! If you are not familiar with Sampology, he is like a Dj version of a variety show, set in a futuristic dancefloor, starring Kurt Russell with an eyepatch (like in Escape From LA), only with way more skills! Hahaha but seriously folks, he has a lock on the visual-dj thing and if you havent seen him then this is a must. He plays and scratches video snippets that he has collected and arranges it all into an awesome party set. Heads love him because he is really technical and skilled and uses an MPC. Your mum loves him because he’s got that footage of Cher’s workout video on the big screen. Everyone else loves him because its mega party-vibes dancefloor action. Its gonna be ridiculous!

Support is from Tom Thum – the most unstoppable force of nature ever to beatbox in Australia. Katch (from Resin Dogs) and Tones doing a Dj/Drummer set. We will be doing a 4 turntable & MPC show (Benji is in Japan right now so when he gets back we are gonna have two days of round-the-clock practice! EEK!). And Charlie Hustle will be bringing the flavour with one of his always-smashing party sets.
